Stop Wasting Money Every
Month!
How much money do you waste every month?
Every web site needs a host but at what cost?
IDC (www.idc.com), a prominent Internet market research firm, has
stated that the hosting industry generated $4 billion in 2000 and
will generate $30 billion in 2004.
That is huge amount of money being thrown around. As a webmaster or online business owner you need a hosting company to serve up your web site but how much should you really be paying?
That number should reflect to a degree how much money you want to
make using the site.
======================
How Much Should I Pay?
======================
-
A free host is great for personal home pages and sites not
looking to make money.
-
Standard or general hosting packages are perfect for most web
sites that don't need advanced features like database hosting or
special scripting. Prices should range from $10-$20/month
depending on how disk space and additional features you need. Any
more than that is usually wasted on excessive disk space or
unneeded features. Pay less than $10/month and chances are they
skimp on the customer service or their equipment isn't up to par.
Remember, if you want to make money with your site long term,
expect to pay at least $10/month. It is a business investment.
-
Large or complex sites require more disk space or database
hosting and can expect to pay from $20-$100 or more a month.
===================
What About My Site?
===================
Most web sites fall into the second category yet they find
themselves paying the higher price, enticed in by promises of
large chunks of disk space. "500 MB only $24.95 a month" cries
one popular company.
They are selling on the principle that most web sites use less
than 5-10 MB each and that they can oversell their disk space
since it won't all get used. All this ends up doing is creating a
log jam and your site slows down as a result.
Just as bad are the companies that charge for "extras",
additional e-mail addresses, site tracking software, e-mail
forwarding, etc... All that should be included for your $10-$20 a
month.
================
How To Choose?
================
Choosing the right host can be a tricky business. Searching for
hosting on Google shows 10,800,000 sites! How can you possibly
choose the right one?
For those of you that missed it we have an article here that will
shed light on choosing the right hosting company:
=========================
I'm Scared to Change Hosts!
=========================
How hard is the move?
-
Find a new company
-
Place an order
-
Upload your site to the space allotted to you
-
Update the DNS info (change two lines of text for your domain
name). In 24-48 hours the changes will spread all over the
Internet and people will see the new location.
That's it, that's all! So many people are afraid to move, wasting
money because they don't realize how easy it is to move! That
technical fear is keeping the hosting companies rich even with
all the competition on the market.
Be honest, how much do you waste every month? Add it up over the
course of a year, how much extra traffic could you purchase with
that wasted money? How many sales are you losing? So what are you
going to do about it?
