Web Site Creation for Internet Startups:
While it doesn't have to cost you a fortune to build your
own web site forget about using a free site if you want to make money
with it.

First step is to decide what tools you need to develop your web site.
Obviously you need a computer, then you need some software. Web Pages are created
using a language called HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language). You can actually go
out and buy a 6 pound book on HTML, learn all the coding and start writing your
own pages. This will probably take from 6-12 months to create a full working
site.
Otherwise you can use one of the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors
that are available. These are programs that create sites for you and just need a
little guidance. This would be the suggested path but you do need some HTML
understanding as you will have to go into the code at some point to make
changes. There are plenty of free tutorials available online that will help with
this.
Other than a computer you may need a scanner if you need to scan products or
other images for your site.
It is important for you to have control over your site as you will constantly
be making changes the first few months, paying someone else to do it can rapidly
deplete your budget.
